Butadaigaku

Ordered the Large Butadon(830yen). Every slice of pork is so smokey, charred, well marinated and savoury. If there is an option to get more meat only I would! Beware that the rice portion for Large is about 2-3times of a normal Japanese restaurant serving. Excellent value.

Marvelous BBQ pork on rice but small sitting area.

Yes the interior isn't fancy, n yes you'd smell like the kitchen after your meal, but this tastes fantastic. Get the egg n break the yolk over the rice n meat for the #partyinmymouth experience.

Awesome pork bowl place.Shop is very small and busy, people line up outside, but the turnover was pretty quick.I went around 12pm during lunch rush and lined up and only 10mins to get in.The pork bowl is amazing, nice char and sweet sauce and at a good price 500-1100yen depending on size.I got mine for take away and only had to wait a few mins.

Tl;Dr Not for groups, brilliant grilled pork (best with chili seasoning), don't order the largest option because you'll just be defeated by the triple-portion rice.Came during weekday lunchtime; the queue, though long, moved relatively quickly. It was slightly cramped and filled with people, but all the salarymen zombies were fully focused on finishing their bowl of heaven ASAP so it was quiet except for the sizzling of the pork and the droning of the radio.I ordered the largest don with the regular set (vegs, half boiled egg, miso). Regretted the size order when I finished up and then realised there was still half a bowl of rice left over. No regrets on ordering the set though; the egg, once mixed into the rice, elevated it to a new level of delicious, and the veg added a nice crunch to the meal.Would try again.

The Buta-Don was delicious. It tastes like what you'd expect, amazing. The char on the pork and the sauce with the rice is the perfect combination.I'd recommend ordering the medium size portion as it is more than sufficient for one person.

Place to be for meat lovers! Tender pork slices with a very aromatic barbecue aroma. The sauce is so flavorful. Gotta get the extra greens as a side dish. Cosy, yet a little smoky restaurant. You order at a machine but you can compare pictures... just put in the money and press whatever you need. The second largest portion was perfect for a big lunch! Very competitive pricing!

Imagine when you have an urge that you want to experience Japanese local foods with unlimited supply. This is the place. Feast yourself with one of the dish and give yourself a joy.The place has 2 entrances from the road or inside the building. Price is reasonably cheap.

An absolutely delicious gyudon which ranks up there as one of the best in Tokyo. The portion is more than generous, the meat is tender and juicy, and the price is reasonable. The shop is small, so you may have to wait, but the service is fast. Staff is friendly too. Highly recommend.

It's cheap, but there are some attendence who speak chinese to talk about the costumers.

Servings of the grilled pork was very generous. Char grilled with a sweet soy sauce served over rice. The staff very extremely polite and courteous. Highly recommend.

Very delicious, best pork rice I have ever had

There was no queue on a Saturday at 5pm. You can choose between four sizes of your pork bowl and I'd say the middle one ("naka") is the average size. The pork is fantastic and I'm happy I came here even though it was out of my way. They have a few sides to go with the bowl if you get a ticket for it (eggs of course). There's no English on the ticket machine.

Comfort food at it best. Char grilled pork over rice with a special homemade sauce. What is there not to like? Service is kiosk and counter. Each slice of pork was tasty and succulent. The rice was subpar IMO compared to the Japanese standard but I will be the only one to notice. 🍚 I enjoyed it since the first time I came it was closed in January. 😂

Every time I visit Japan I always come here. Their buta-don is just fantastic. The sause they use is sweet and savory. The pork tender and crisped on the edges. The rice perfect. You need to come here if you love pork on rice.

Amazing food ! Freshly grilled pork right in front of you, super juicy and amazing flavours. Only a pretty tight counter seat, but definitely worth it for a very reasonable price and quick service.

Amazing pork, amazing value. The sauce is exquisite. You get excellent food for what you pay for (less than $10 for a medium bowl), which you order from a vending machine and hand to the staff. One of our best meals in Japan, easily.

Soooo good! The restaurant only have 12 seats so it is common to find a long queue there. However, the queue goes by quite fast and the food is totally worth it. There are 4 sizes, ¥500, ¥650, ¥810, and ¥1020. The one in the picture is ¥650, perfect amount for one hungry lady!

i love the food on this restaurant one of the surprises that I had. the place is a bit cram and i've a got a sense of feeling from the person in line breathing down my neck to finish my bowl immedietely but food and esp the pork is freaking flavourful and definitely worth it plus the price ain't so bad as well

"Cha-su" roast pork rice. Comes in small, normal, large, extra large portions.

Absolutely a must go for those who stay around this area. Fair prices, excellent food. Place is small so take your meal as a quick recharge and you will definitely be recharged after all the buta goodness. Use all your rice eating skills to enjoy the most of the flavour-soaked rice. And for the brave, go for the biggest bowl.

If you are a meat person, try it!

Awesome buta don. Super nice grilled pork belly. Sauce is heavenly and the right amount of sweetness and saltiness. I will at least come by twice on each trip.

This pork meat is so good. It has so much flavour, you can also taste the smokey flavour and the sauce is a bit sweet it's perfectly matching the meat. The rice was also on point, the sauce mixed with the rice was glorious. It makes the taste so much better. The amount of rice was big but you will need it for the meat. A tip put some pepper from the table over the meat it makes it even more delicious. There are only 12 seats and maybe you have to wait, when you go for lunch time but it's worth it!

Superb yummy BBQ pork rice bowl. Ordered small size and just nice for ladies. Albeit the shop is small with limited seats, the service is good and fast. Q for 15 min during weekday lunch hour, not too bad.

One of the best pork bowl I'd ever eaten!

Super awesome roasted dudadon, ordered mid size at 650JPY + side dishes (rare egg, miso soup, onion) at 240JPY. Mid size is just fitting for regular male, female would be better to go with small. Teenagers and students could challenge the XL size probably double the volume. Very tasty and the skin with a bit over cooked crispy, this is something to make you feel better when at the bad mood.

Everytime went to work and alway passed by this mini restaurant. It’s always so packed. So I tried this time. Dude! It’s so yum and I was so thankful myself coming over and giving it a try. This is absolutely something you can’t miss out in Shimbashi. The pork is very Japanese bbq style, not too sweet or salty. The pork is very fresh so it’s not too chewable. And highly recommended veggie salad.
